The Next J. K. Rowling

This week, MRD submitted a story to the monthly short story contest in American Girl magazine, which she adores. I am so proud of her little story! While winning the contest is a tall order, as it seems to be girls several years older who mostly win, her entry is very nice, and she did it all by herself. I only helped with the typing as the deadline loomed.

You can read the story for yourself here. She followed the instructions to give the story a winter setting, and used one of the available plot elements (magic dancing slippers). It is just such a peek into the psyche of the always-amazing 8-year-old MRD. I really like her verbs and her deliberate use of descriptive language. Enjoy!
