Giving Our Life with Jesus

"Why be afraid?  Do you still not know him?  Work to obtain self-denial and rejoice in your tribulations because these attract God's mercy upon us.  He is so good!  It is not the good things that God finds in souls which attract him, it is he who puts in us the good he finds in our soul:  don't let the magnitude of your misery keep you from contemplating the greatness of God's love, and resolutely concentrate on the graces he has given your soul.  When souls look at themselves, they lose the time and attention to concentrate on God and his graces.  True humility is not amazed or frightened by what the Lord is doing in the soul because it knows that it is God who is doing it, and it is not unusual for him to do wonderful things; also because, knowing how secondary and worthless the soul's role is, it is not surprised when God pours his graces into it.  When he is in need of a void, any void would be good... Live through faith, increase your confidence, your hope, and throw yourself into the arms of love."
