Room for God

I just love this reflection based on Matthew 5:17-19 from today's entry in the Magnificat Lenten Companion:

God's wisdom guides his love, and the result is a magnificent order called the economy of salvation.  In difficult times we are forced to economize, that is, exercise a plan and prioritize to make the little we have go as far as possible.  God economizes for the opposite reason.  His "problem" is superabundance.  What he has to give--himself--exceeds our capacity to receive, so he economizes his love. 

The marvelous thing about this economy is that when God loves us, our capacity to receive expands.  Each approach of love is meant to prepare us for a further act of love that fulfills the promise contained in the previous one.  He loves us so that he may love us all the more. ...

Lent, the season of conversion, is the time to allow God's love to expand our capacity to receive his love so that we can enter more fully into Christ's Paschal Mystery where divine love goes "to the end."
